Jonny Rye is one of the foremost violinists in Britain today. He began his musical training firstly on the piano, then the violin with public performances from the age of six in his local community.
At eighteen he continued his specialist studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester excelling in chamber music and as a soloist. Under the tutelage of the Leader of the London Philharmonic and English Chamber Orchestras, Maciej Rackowski, he graduated with honours in 1995.
Jonny has worked with Halle and Northern Sinfonia orchestras and was a principalviolinist with the British Youth Opera Company. He has performed for Andrew Lloyd Webber and the Duchess of Kent. He has attended master classes with Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Shmuel Ashkenasi and Lydia Mordkovich.
Jonny is a orchestral conductor at an advanced level and has worked with YanPascal Tortelier and Kent Nagano. He is a accomplished pianist playing beyond diploma standard.
