fiddlin' fantastic

Fiddlin’ Fantastic began in August 2000 as a development in style and material from one of the most successful country music duos in the UK, The Rye Brothers. As the Ryes, Mike and Jonny have won National Awards, appeared on television and released 5 successful albums including the critically acclaimed “Back to the Wild” original material CD which was distributed nationally in the UK and spawned the independent airplay number 1 hit, “Absolutely Definitely”. They also have the distinction of owning the biggest selling “Christmas Linedance Hit” in their recording “Hooked On Christmas”. They have toured in Europe and in every country in the UK.

As a cabaret show the “Fiddlin’ Fantastic” name allows Mike & Jonny to use the full range of skills developed after 8 years as a professional touring act without the constraints imposed by providing for the “specialist” audience.

The result is a vibrant, energetic set of material with something for every audience with just that hint of “something different”. Using Jonny’s expertise on the fiddle, cello and mandolin and Mike’s keyboard/piano ability, classics such as “Come On Eileen” and “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” are played live on stage complimented with modern pop hits by Take That, The Fratellis and so on..... there is even room for a little Johann Strauss!!

“Fiddlin’ Fantastic” released their first mini-album CD and cassette “On the Fiddle” in 2001, a montage of some of the instrumental favourites used in the show, the feature track being a dance version of “Cry of the Celts” taken from the Irish dance show “Riverdance”. A sell out follow up in the series “On the Fiddle 2” featuring vocal performances from the show and a couple of original pieces for good measure. The “On the Fiddle” live CD double album was released in March 2006, completing the series. Fiddlin’ Fantastic were proud to release a complete album of Original compositions in 2006 (unsurprisingly called “Originals”) The brand new album - “Fit as a Fiddle” was released in June 2009.

Fiddlin’ Fantastic are very proud to have received the Duo of the Year by the Durham Concert Secretaries Federation and have also been awarded the Regal awards Duo of the Year.
